Job Title Junior Freight Forwarder

Leading mid-tier logistics provider now require a Freight Forwarder for their Cork branch. Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will be responsible for delivering high quality customer service to all customers, partners and suppliers whilst managing your time effectively to ensure that priorities and targets set are achieved.

This role would suit a recent logistics / supply chain graduate with strong knowledge and interest in a career in freight forwarding. Experience working in the transport / logistics industry would be a definite advantage.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Handling Customer Services , Port Agency and Ships planning functions
  • Assist with import/export activities on a daily basis
  • Ensure all Consignments are loaded onto system prior to arrival / departure , checking paperwork for accuracy.
  • Develop & maintain strong working relationship with suppliers
  • Develop and maintain contacts with key customers and potential customers
  • Problem solving on all aspects of CS in Ireland
  • Maintain accurate hazardous cargo data input in full compliance with currently applicable IMDG regulations for sea transport
  • Control customers’ key customs documentation
  • Be responsible for handling designated key accounts & reporting KPI as required
  • Liaison between other company offices and agents in all matters pertaining to the business
  • Generating invoices as required, in a timely manner in line with Finance team guidelines
  • Keep operational staff & Customers fully informed of any holds, exams or other areas which may cause delay to a shipment
  • Develop constructive relationships with key customers and key suppliers, resolving any concerns and ensuring corrective action is taken
  • Identify and escalate any issues to ensure deadlines are met.

  • Excellent communications skills, written & verbal
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Strong PC and administration skills
  • Eager to learn and capable to develop strong knowledge of freight forwarding processes
  • Experience in a freight forwarding role would be advantageous
  • Experience working within transport, haulage or courier companies (desirable)
