Job Title Maintenance Technician

Maintenance Technician - County Kildare

Required to work shift Mon-Sun in a fast-paced food manufacturing business in Kildare. Ideally (not essentially) will have previous food maintenance experience, but open to other industry sectors.

HOURS: Shift work days, evenings and nights - Monday-Sunday, 12 hour shifts.

Key Purpose of the Role:
On a day to day basis, the maintenance Craft Technician is responsible for the executing, monitoring and recording of the maintenance breakdowns and breakdown follow ups.
Responsible for delivering a high quality maintenance service to production. The technician must ensure that maintenance works efficiently, effectively, safely and in line with the maintenance strategy
Responsible for carrying out planned work.

• Carry out the execution of the preventive maintenance and Condition Based program

• Providing maintenance support, entering data, updating equipment records, produce performance reports and participating in continuous improvement follow up
• Cost control consciousness
• Electrical and Mechanical trouble-shooting
• Electro-mechanical repairs to high-speed, PLC-controlled plant, handling and packaging equipment, also pneumatic and hydraulic control systems
• Technical support for the plant facilities and services, including compressed air, refrigeration and steam.
• Performance of PM routines
• Support Production Team in achieving targets
• Closely monitor line and machine performance and intervene on line as soon as any deterioration in performance occurs
• As part of the Technical Maintenance team, work with equipment suppliers on new equipment and installations and modifications
• Provide mentoring and coaching to shift technicians.
• Co-operate and participate fully in training and development in cross-skilling and other job-related competencies
• Update the maintenance management system (CMMS), records of all changes, stores transactions made and work carried out
• Troubleshooting using PLC Programs
• Responsible for completion of planned work, shifts daily input of all works onto CMMS, parts booked out of stores and control of breakdowns
• Ensure Maintenance Manager is aware of any problems on site as soon as possible.
• Observing all onsite and legislative rules and regulations in terms of Food Safety and Health and Safety.
• Using all resources such as manuals, service contacts etc. to aid in breakdown recovery.
• Maintain workshops to a high standard
• Follow all up to date stores and parts procedures
• Assist with ensuring apprentices in the dept. receive appropriate training relative to their trade if required.
• Project work for apprentices to enhance their skills.
• Control of contractors and acting as Liaison Person as and when required.

Interested applicants should have:

- Trades qualification
- Mechanical or Electrical background. Main skill in Electrical / Mechanical
- Qualification in instrumentation an advantage (temperature calibrations)
- Multi-skilled / cross-skilled ethos
- Aptitude for process awareness, diagnostic / trouble-shooting experience gained in a Hi-volume environment
- Good team player that can use their initiative
- Computer skills an advantage
