Job Title Operations Manager - Food Sector

Our Leading Food Producer Client based here in Cork is looking to fill the Key Role of Operations Manager.

Operations Manager job description:

¿ Human Resources to include:

o Recruitment

o training

o performance management

o disciplinary action.


Setting, implementing and maintaining KPI (Key Performance Indicator) for the business

Ensuring all products are produced top customer specifications

Ensuring the plant is ready for Auditing - BRC, customers etc

Project management - capital investments such as building upgrades, processing facilities, systems etc

Ensuring that all records are maintained in accordance with site and auditing standards.

Ensuring that health and safety measures are in place and adhered to.

Profitability and budget maintenance

Continuous improvement by engaging cross functionally to identify the issues and opportunities for improvement thus facilitation buying in from all departments to implement improvement initiatives.

Providing real time accurate information so that production can quickly respond to events as they happen.

Bench marking against industry standards

Systems and process reviews, making recommendations and implementing changes

Order management and fulfilment process, including timelines, costs, stock management, returns, transport and customer satisfaction.

Property maintenance and security

Ensuring that the plant is operating in compliance with environmental standards and meets its regulatory obligations.

The challenge in this position is to maximise resources to get the best return whilst maintaining quality and anticipating the company’s future needs and opportunities.

The successful candidate will have the following attributes and experience:

  • ¿ Business or Technical degree / Masters qualification
  • ¿ Background in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
  • ¿ Strategic thinker that can balance the need to get things done with a long-term vision for driving profitability inevery area of the business
  • ¿ Strong interpersonal skills such as assertiveness and ability to lead and help employees reach their full potential
  • ¿ A flexible leader to meet changing circumstances
  • ¿ Encourages participation and experienced in facilitating different departments.
  • ¿ To work by consensus
  • ¿ Adds value through training and mentoring staff
  • ¿ Builds trust, is credible and has a high ethical work standard

  • ¿ Track record in establishing and implementing processes, procedures and business systems.
