Purchasing Specialist

In partnership with its client Kenny-Whelan & Associates is currently seeking a Purchasing Specialist for the Cork area.

The Client:

The Client is a well established multi-national.


The successful candidate will co-ordinate Purchasing Activities for subsidiaries located in UK and Ireland, in particular Cork.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide support in activities linked to the management of Purchasing Requests and Purchase Orders in the ERP systems as well as other administrative purchasing tasks. Ensure support to all purchasing systems users and maintain such a system.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify Purchasing Systems Users training needs for all existing or potential users, organise and deliver the trainings

  • Coordinate the purchasing system maintenance, including any Key User related activity.

  • Raise Purchase Orders in the ERP from approved purchase requisitions, as per SLA’s and following processes

  • Liaise with requesters, Finance and Procurement team members to ensure completion of purchasing cycle, and provide regular information to stakeholders regarding the status of their orders

  • Manage order confirmations, changes and purchase order modifications

  • Maintain vendor master data in the relevant systems

  • Run reports to monitor volume and purchasing cycle

  • Support the implementation of third party Procurement solutions

  • Collaborate with Procurement team members and develop effective relationships with sourcing managers and purchasing colleagues

  • Provide high level of service to business requesters, across multiple countries and subsidiaries, insuring a streamlined and efficient purchasing process

  • Collaborate with Finance and especially Accounts Payable to solve issues linked to P2P cycle.


  • Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain / Procurement

  • Advanced Ms Office

  • Very strong experience of electronic management systems

Skills :

  • Proficient knowledge of Oracle ERP and / or SAP Ariba
  • Experience in preparing financial statements under IFRS and Irish/UK GAAP

Other : Knowledge of French language is a bonus
