Job Title Temp Security & Safety Manager D2

Temp Security & Safety Managerin the Operations Department for a contract role commencing immediately - well established organisation.


  • Develop, maintain and monitor a security and safety management system for the venue, to ensure the venue is compliant with legislation and meets recognised international standards.
  • Identify training and development needs for existing Security & Safety staff, lead recruitment activities for all new staff, and proactively identify opportunities for more effective utilisation of resources, to ensure the venue is adequately resourced with the right frequency and mix of skills;
  • Oversee the deployment of approximately 60-70 Security Officers (MSOs) (through their Supervisors) in line with security and customer service requirements; and ii) Manage the manned guarding security contractor; to ensure effective security and safety management in the company.
  • Act as risk owner for Security and Health & Safety and chair the Security and Safety committee, to ensure effective management and promotion of security and health & safety to recognised international standards.
  • Maintain and lead periodic review of the Safety Statement, monitor for compliance and also ensure compliance with own responsibilities, to ensure safety, security and occupational health requirements are met.
  • Manage claims associated with security and safety incidents
  • Liaise with other department managers, with An Garda Síochána, State Claims Agency, Health and Safety Authority and other key stakeholders to ensure effective security and safety and enhance the Visitor experience;
  • Monitor for security and safety management compliance and provide timely reporting on Security, Health & Safety Key Performance Indicators to relevant stakeholders, to ensure management are informed and have information required for effective decision-making.
  • Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures for all relevant operational activities, with periodic review to ensure SOPs remain fit for purpose;
  • Review, advise on and approve proposed events from a security, health and safety perspective, to ensure the is appropriately resourced and risks are effectively managed.
  • Lead the implementation of the Staff Development process for all Security, Safety and Event staff, and ensure implementation of agreed HR policies, to improve individual and people management capability, and increase operational effectiveness within the area;
  • Manage the allocated budget for the area in line with policies to ensure good governance and sound financial management.
  • Manage any other issues which may arise that are relevant to the role.

Essential Functional / Technical Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of security management principles, systems and standards
  • In depth knowledge of safety management systems and standards
  • Several years’ experience managing people in a similarly-sized unionised environment
  • Several years’ experience of security management in a similar-sized organisation
  • Good knowledge of quality management systems and standards;
  • Relevant third-level degree qualification in security and health and safety, post-graduate qualification preferable
  • Membership of relevant Professional Associations and evidence of continuous professional development in the area of security and health and safety
  • Good project management and IT skills
